Create/Edit extension element

Create/Edit extension element

In certain cases, you may not find the necessary taxonomy elements readily available in the taxonomy tab. When this happens, you have the power to create custom elements. These extension elements will seamlessly integrate into your presentation tree, ensuring that your financial data tagging process remains comprehensive and effective. Follow the provided steps below to create the extended element.

Creating an Extended Element:

              1. Right-click on the element that has been designated as the "Parent" where you intend to create the extension. Then choose "Extend"

            2. You'll be directed to the "Create Extension" tab. Here, you can provide essential details such as the Element Label Text, Element Name, Data type, Substitution Group, Period Type, and a precise definition of the element.

            3. After providing all the necessary data, click the "Add" button. This action will result in the creation of your extended element, which will now be visible in both the Presentation and Extension tabs.

Editing an Extended Element:

In case you would like to edit the extension element, kindly follow the provided steps below.

            1. To edit an extended element, you must first ensure that the data is untagged.

            2. Select and right-click the specific custom (extended) element you wish to edit and choose "Edit Properties.

           3. You will be directed to the Extension tab, where you can make the necessary changes to Element label text, Element name, Data type, Period type, and a precise definition of the element. Provide the updates as required. However, the Substitution Group cannot be edited.

           4.  After completing your modifications, click the "Update" button to confirm and save the changes. Your extended element is now aligned with your evolving financial data needs.

By following these steps, you can seamlessly create and edit extension elements, enriching your presentation tree and ensuring that your financial data tagging process remains thorough and customized.
