Authorize with HMRC

Authorize with HMRC

In order for the MTD VAT Return application to interact with HMRC on your behalf, you must grant the necessary authorization. This allows the application to submit VAT returns digitally. The authorization process is simple and only needs to be completed once every 18 months, as specified by HMRC. Follow the steps below to grant permission and proceed with your VAT return tasks.

      1. Navigate to the Entity section of the application and select the entity for which you need to grant authorization.
      2. Click on the "Authorize" button next to the respective entity. You will be redirected to HMRC’s official page to complete the authorization process.

      3. Ensure that you have your GOV.UK login credentials ready. These are required to verify your identity and grant authorization.
      4. Enter your GOV.UK login credentials to proceed.

      5. On the HMRC page, review the details and click on "Grant Authority" to allow the MTD VAT Return application to submit your VAT returns and interact with HMRC on your behalf.
      6. Once the consent is granted, you will be redirected back to the MTD VAT Return application.
      7. After the redirection, you will see an "Authorized with HMRC" indicator in the Returns Section of the application, confirming that the authorization was successfully completed.

Once the authorization is granted, you can proceed with creating VAT returns and working within the HMRC interface section of the application.

If you encounter any issues during the authorization process or need further assistance, please reach out to our support team at mtd@datatracks.co.uk.
