Dimensions are applied in combination with an element to add a precise description to the value tagged in financial reporting. By using dimensions, you can specify various attributes of a financial fact, such as the product type, geographic region, or time period. Multiple dimensions can be applied to a single fact to provide a more detailed description of the data.
Add dimension(member) to presentation tree
To create a dimension and establish its relationship within the Presentation Tree, follow these steps:
1. Start by selecting the required tree Role within the Presentation Tree and right-click to select "Set as Parent."
2. Next, navigate to the Taxonomy tab, locate the appropriate Abstract, right-click on it, and choose "Map." This action will add the Abstract to the Presentation Tree.
3. Once the Abstract is added, right-click on it and select "Set as Parent."
4. Then, in the Taxonomy tab, find the necessary Table, right-click, and select "Map." The Table will be integrated into the Presentation Tree.
5. Now, right-click on the Table element within the Presentation Tree and select "Set as Parent." This action designates the Table as the parent element for the new dimension.
6. Return to the Taxonomy tab and choose the required Axis. Right-click on it and select "Map." This step links the Axis with the Presentation Tree, incorporating it into the dimension structure.
7. Next, in the Taxonomy tab, select the appropriate Domain, right-click, and choose "Map." The Domain will be added under the Axis.
8. Once the Domain is added, right-click on it and select "Set as Parent."
9. Finally, navigate back to the Taxonomy tab, select the required Member, and map it. The Member will be successfully added.
With the basic tree structure in place, you can proceed to add elements and assign Members to these elements as needed.
Extend a Dimension (Member)
If the required member is not available in the Taxonomy tab, to create a custom Member, follow these steps:
1. In the Presentation Tree, select the Domain where you wish to add the custom Member. Right-click on the Domain and choose "Extend [Member]."
2. Fill in the necessary details within the properties, then click "Add." The custom Member will be successfully added to the tree.
