Delete, Resolve and Reopen thread

Delete, Resolve and Reopen thread

Effective management of comment threads in spreadsheets is crucial. This article outlines how to delete entire comment threads when they are no longer needed, resolve threads to prevent further comments, and reopen resolved threads for further editing or additions.

Delete a Comment Thread

If you no longer need the comments associated with a specific cell and want to delete the entire thread follow the provided steps below.
            1. Identify the cell marked with a blue indicator, which indicates there is an existing comment.
            2. Right-click on the cell and choose "Cell comments" option from the menu. This action allows you to view all comments associated with that cell.
            3. Within the comment window, locate and click on the "More Actions" icon.
            4. From the available options, select "Delete thread" option. This step removes all comments within that thread for the selected cell.

Resolve a Comment Thread

Once you have addressed the issue related to a specific cell value and no further comments are necessary follow the steps below to resolve it.
            1. Choose the cell marked with a blue indicator to denote an existing comment.
            2. Right-click on the cell and select the "Cell comments" option.
            3. Click on the "More Actions" icon within the comment window.
            4. Choose the "Resolve thread" option from the options provided. This action prevents any new comments from being added to the thread, ensuring the existing comments remain visible for reference purposes.

Reopen a Resolved Thread

If you need to make changes or add new comments to a thread that was previously resolved follow the steps below.
            1. Start by selecting the cell marked with a blue indicator, indicating there is a resolved comment thread.
            2. Right-click on the cell and choose "Cell comments" option.
            3. Click on the "More Actions" icon within the comment window.
            4. Select "Reopen thread" option from the available options. This action allows you to edit, delete, or add new comments within the reopened thread as necessary.
