If you've filled in the VAT template correctly and linked the necessary data, but the "Check the Digital Link" column still shows a False indication instead of True. This can occur due to the file's location or macro settings. Follow the steps below to resolve this issue and ensure the digital link column is updated correctly.''
1. Ensure that the MTD VAT template is saved on your device's local storage (not on a network drive). Storing the template on your local drive helps avoid issues with file access and permissions.
2. To resolve the issue, you need to add the file location as a trusted location in Excel. This allows the application to correctly validate the links in the template.
3. Open the VAT template file in Excel.
4. Click on "File" option located at the top left corner of Excel.
5. From the menu, choose "Options" at the bottom left.
6. In the Excel Options window, click on "Trust Center" in the left-hand menu. Next, click on "Trust Center Settings".
7. Then select "Trusted Locations".
8. In the Trusted Locations section, click on "Add new location".
9. Copy the file path where your VAT template is stored (e.g., C:\Users\YourName\Documents\MTD VAT Template.xlsx) and paste it into the location box.
10. Click OK to add the location as trusted.
11. While in the Trust Center settings, ensure that macros are enabled for the template to function correctly. You can do this by clicking on Macro Settings and selecting Enable all macros (ensure you trust the source of the file before enabling macros).
12. Once you’ve added the location as trusted and enabled macros, close the VAT template and then reopen it.
13. After reopening the file, check the "Digital Link" column again. It should now show True, indicating that the link has been successfully validated.
14. If the Digital Link column still shows False after following these steps, please contact our support team for further assistance.
Once the issue is resolved and the digital link shows True, you can proceed with completing and submitting the VAT return. If you encounter any other challenges or need further assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out to our support team at mtd@datatracks.co.uk.
